Our June pick is a non profit online school that’s strong on affordability, and offers a good array of very career focused degrees. Baker College was founded in Michigan in 1911, and now has 13 campuses around the midwest. It has regional accreditation – the best kind – from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It has been called one of the most “adult-friendly” colleges, with a favorable policy toward credit transfer, and an unusual level of flexibility in terms of the order that courses are taken in for most of it’s degree programs.
The school moved into online education in 1996. With strong growth in that area, it now reaches a student body of over 40,000. Online degree programs offered include associates, bachelors and masters programs in business, technology, nursing, psychology and criminal justice. Some of it’s more cutting-edge programs include game design, organizational psychology, project management planning and a doctorate in business. It’s one of the most popular schools chosen by SuccessDegrees.com readers.
Baker’s credibility as a nonprofit and lower tuition rates (it claims to cost half of what some other colleges cost) make it an interesting option for the “nontraditional” student who needs an online degree.More info on Baker here. The school’s Twitter profile page is here.
