Online Learning As Big As Hockey In Canada!
Well, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch. But there’s no doubt that e-Learning has become a major career-advancement tool up in the great white north, especially in more rural provinces where people live far from the nearest college. According to a new report from Statistics Canada, an amazing 26 per cent of all Canadian adults used the Internet for education, training or schoolwork in 2005. Athabasca University in Alberta is cited as possibly the nation’s leading online college, with over 700 courses and 32,000 students. The overwhelming majority of these students, according to the Edmonton Journal, are adults looking to boost their careers with new skills and qualifications.
